About Us
Amplify the missing, advocate for change!
Mics for the Missing Inc. (MFTMI) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. We act as a steadfast advocate and amplifier, using the power of arts, education, and media to bring attention to unheard voices and share stories that too often go untold. We are committed to ensuring these stories are highlighted in mainstream society. Our focus areas span the Northeast, with a dedicated commitment to tackling the issue of missing BIPOC in urban, suburban, and rural communities. Through our multifaceted initiatives, including advocacy efforts, community action support, and prevention education, we aim to provide help and resources to affected neighborhoods while also addressing the root causes of this crisis.

We firmly believe in investing in arts and education as catalysts for change, using creative expression and knowledge sharing to uplift communities and drive transformative shifts in societal attitudes.

Our Story
In February 2022, Congress held a pivotal two-hour hearing to address what they termed a “silent epidemic” of missing Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) who are disproportionately represented in the nation’s missing person cases. In response to this call for action, Mics For The Missing, Inc. (MFTMI) was founded with a clear mission to shine a light on this crisis.

On February 1, 2023, National Missing Persons Day, we held our inaugural community event at District Hall in Boston, Massachusetts. The event garnered significant media attention, with WBZ News covering the gathering and spotlighting the cases of three missing local young women of color. This media exposure brought much-needed attention to their stories and underscored the importance of our mission.
