A Look Into Mics for the Missing Inc

OUR MISSION

Mics for the Missing Inc. (MFTMI) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to raising awareness and advocating for all missing and exploited people. Through collaborative, trauma-informed approaches, we work to close critical gaps in visibility, resources, and response—particularly for communities disproportionately impacted by systemic inequities. By harnessing the power of the arts, education, and media, we foster prevention, healing, and safety while uplifting those most vulnerable to cycles of violence and exploitation.

“This issue is not new. Each year, individuals go missing or are exploited, often after experiencing cycles of violence, instability, or vulnerability that go unaddressed. These patterns are not isolated — they are part of a broader system that too often fails to intervene early or respond with urgency.

Mics for the Missing was created to break that cycle — working across media, law enforcement, and communities to increase awareness, strengthen prevention, and drive coordinated action. Because no one should be left unseen, unsupported, or unheard.”

EXPERIENCE

Advocate & Amplify

Nearly 40% of all missing persons in the U.S. are People of Color. We believe every missing person should receive the resources and attention they deserve. Because that is not the case, we amplify our voices for the visibility and support of missing Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC).

We believe enhancing our resourcefulness and tenacity through community and safety networks is how we create change and bolster prevention. Although we are Massachusetts-based, we are working across the nation, advancing collective action to make a much-needed difference. The more we all know, the more we can develop solutions to address this growing crisis.
